The top honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has gone to the 2010 Honda Insight EX! This All new hybrid from Honda has been bestowed with the TOP SAFETY PICK award for the year 2009!Plaza Honda, as the leading Honda dealer from Brooklyn, New York raises a toast to this wonderful hybrid, the 2010 Honda Insight for winning this badge of honor.
The annual award from the IIHS recognizes vehicles that do the best job while protecting vehicle occupants during frontal, side, and rear crashes based on ratings in certain tests. The IIHS is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the losses - deaths, injuries, and property damage - from crashes on the nation's highways. The institute revises its tests to keep up with real-world road conditions, and has also made electronic stability control (ESC) a requirement for any vehicle considered for the Top Safety Pick.
IIHS crash testing includes frontal offset crash tests, side-impact tests and rear collision tests that evaluate seat/head restraints, and new low-impact bumper tests. The IIHS ranks vehicles "Good," "Acceptable," "Marginal" or "Poor."
The Honda Insight Hybrid which has surpassed the tough IIHS tests to be chosen as the Top Safety Pick, is also the least expensive hybrids available in the US today!
