The 2015 Honda Civic manages to be affordable and economical without ever feeling cheap. If you live in Manhattan, or Queens, you should come down to Plaza Honda in Brooklyn, NY where it’s even more affordable.

The compact 2015 Nissan Sentra isn’t a bad car, but at nearly the same price as a Civic, the Honda just seems like the better buy.

Civic Fuel Economy vs. Sentra Fuel Economy

Both of these cars are good on gas, but the Honda is just slightly better whether you prefer the manual transmission or the automatic. With a manual, both get an EPA rated 36 mpg on the highway, but Civic gets 1 more mpg with 28 in the city test. Equipped with the CVT automatic, again they tie in highway travel at 39 mpg, but the Civic will get 30 on the city test, versus the Sentra’s 29. The Honda Civic does this while having 13 more horsepower and an extra pound foot of torque.

Civic Sportiness vs. Sentra Sportiness

Both of these cars are economical small sedans, but they can be fun to drive too. However, only the Honda Civic is available with a sleek 2-door coupe body style. Both offer sportier trim levels with stiffer suspension setting and other tweaks, but the Nissan Sentra SR is still powered by the base 130hp motor and only comes with the automatic transmission. The Honda Civic Si has a 205hp 2.4-liter motor and a slick 6-speed manual transmission, to lay down a sub-7 second 0-60 mph time.

Civic Crash Test vs. Sentra Crash Test

It’s not crazy to be worried about the crash worthiness of a compact car, considering all the trucks and buses out there. The Honda Civic gets a 5 star overall scores on the NHTSA crash test, compared to the Sentra that can only score a 4 out of 5 overall.

So if you are shopping for a small, economical car, why would you buy anything but a 2015 Honda Civic? Plaza Honda in Brooklyn, NY has all the different Civics, sedan, coupe, hybrid, SI, and natural gas powered, and you don’t even have to leave the 5 boroughs to take a test drive.
