2027 Honda CR-V: Trims, MPG and Pricing for NYC Drivers
Published September 10, 2026 · Last updated October 15, 2026
The CR-V is the default answer in this city for a reason. It is the size most households actually need, all-wheel drive is available, and more than half the lineup is now hybrid — which matters more here than almost anywhere, because the hybrid's advantage shows up precisely in stop-and-go. Below are the official 2027 trims, prices and EPA ratings, and what they mean for driving in New York City.
2027 figures are official. Honda published 2027 CR-V pricing in September 2026. Prices below are official 2027 MSRPs before the $1,550 destination charge, and EPA ratings carry over unchanged from 2026.
What's changing on the 2027 Honda CR-V?
Expect continuity rather than news. The sixth-generation CR-V launched for 2023 and has been getting additions steadily since — the TrailSport Hybrid joined in 2025, connected services expanded, and Honda kept widening hybrid availability. Nothing about that pattern suggests a redesign lands for 2027.
That is exactly how it played out. The 2027 CR-V carries over the 2026 refresh unchanged: the same 190-hp 1.5-liter turbo, the same 204-hp two-motor hybrid, the same seven trims, and the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless charging on every trim. The only confirmed change is pricing, up $400 to $700 depending on trim. No plug-in CR-V has been announced for the US.
The practical read: a 2027 CR-V and a 2026 CR-V are the same car with a different sticker, which lets you shop both model years purely on price and availability. See the full year-over-year breakdown in our 2027 vs 2026 Honda CR-V comparison.
When is the 2027 Honda CR-V release date?
Honda published official 2027 CR-V pricing in September 2026, and 2027 models reach dealers in waves rather than all at once, while remaining 2026 inventory is still on the lot.
The order of arrival is predictable. LX and EX show up first and in the largest volume. Hybrid trims follow, and they are the ones that move fastest once they land — Sport-L and Sport Touring Hybrid in a specific color are what people around here wait longest for. The TrailSport Hybrid is scarcest of all, since it is a low-volume trim to begin with. Telling us the exact build you want before allocation is assigned costs nothing and no deposit.
Meanwhile the outgoing model year is frequently the better financial story, because factory support concentrates on cars already on the ground. Lease programs reset monthly, and factory incentives show what is live right now.
How much does the 2027 Honda CR-V cost?
A little more than 2026. The 2027 CR-V starts at $31,520 for the LX with front-wheel drive and $33,020 with all-wheel drive, $600 more than a 2026 LX. Most other trims rose $400, and the Sport Touring Hybrid rose $700 to $42,950. The destination charge also went up, from $1,395 to $1,550, so a 2027 LX comes to $33,070 before tax, title and registration.
Two choices move your payment far more than the model-year bump. The first is turbo versus hybrid. The hybrid costs more up front but returns roughly 40 mpg combined against 30 for the 1.5-liter turbo, and in city driving the gap is wider still — for a household putting real miles on the car inside the boroughs, the hybrid often wins on total cost within the term of a lease.
The second is all-wheel drive, which adds $1,500 where it is optional. Most New York buyers take it, and the reason is rarely deep snow — it is the first unplowed morning and the wet ramp onto a parkway.
Your trade is the third lever, and the one people underuse. Compact SUVs have held value firmly here, and a current appraisal often covers the step from EX to EX-L on its own — we buy cars whether or not you buy one from us.

Official 2027 CR-V trims, EPA ratings and MSRP, excluding the $1,550 destination charge. All-wheel drive adds $1,500 on the LX, EX, EX-L, Sport Hybrid and Sport-L Hybrid and is standard on the TrailSport and Sport Touring Hybrid. With AWD, gas trims are rated 27/31/29 mpg and Sport and Sport-L Hybrids 40/34/37.
Two rows deserve a second look. The Sport Hybrid costs just $230 more than an EX-L but returns ten more combined mpg — for anyone driving mostly inside the boroughs, that comparison is the single most important one on the page. And the TrailSport Hybrid is the only trim that gives back fuel economy, about two combined mpg against other AWD hybrids, in exchange for all-terrain tires; as a pure city car the money goes further elsewhere in the range.
Powertrains, and what the numbers feel like in traffic
The 1.5-liter turbo makes around 190 horsepower through a CVT and is the value entry point. The hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter with electric motors for roughly 204 horsepower, and the spec sheet undersells it: the motor does the work at low speed, so pulling away from a light is smoother and quieter.
That is also where the efficiency comes from. Hybrids rate higher in the city than on the highway, which is the reverse of a conventional car and exactly backwards from how most people assume it works. In a crawl across the Kosciuszko or up Atlantic at rush hour, the hybrid is barely using the engine. If your driving is mostly highway commuting out of the city, the gap narrows and the turbo makes a stronger case.
Space, and why it works better than the numbers suggest
Turbo models carry roughly 39 cubic feet behind the rear seats and around 76 with them folded; hybrids give up a little to battery packaging. The shape is what makes those numbers usable: a wide hatch, a low lift-over height, and a rear seat that reclines and slides so you can trade legroom for cargo.
The rear seat is worth sitting in before you buy. It is genuinely adult-sized, and the sliding function means a rear-facing child seat and a six-foot front passenger can coexist.
Measured against the CR-V it replaced
The fifth-generation CR-V ran through 2022 and is still everywhere here, so that comparison matters. The current car is longer on a longer wheelbase, which reads as a calmer, quieter highway car rather than extra bulk in traffic. The interior changed most: honeycomb trim hiding the vents, better materials, and a rear seat with real space. The hybrid moved from side option to core of the lineup, and Honda Sensing became standard.
The trade-offs are minor — slightly more weight, and the old car's tighter footprint had its own appeal when parking. Cross-shopping that generation used? Those cars land in our certified pre-owned inventory.
The recognition, briefly
The CR-V is one of the most decorated vehicles in its class. Cars.com has ranked it at or near the top of its compact SUV comparisons, Kelley Blue Book has repeatedly named it a Best Buy in the segment, and recent model years have carried IIHS Top Safety Pick status — though those ratings attach to a specific model year and headlight configuration, so confirm it on the exact car you are looking at. It also regularly appears high on the Cars.com American-Made Index.
Resale is the recognition that reaches your bank statement: residual values set lease payments, so a car that holds value quietly leases for less before anyone starts negotiating. The CR-V has been near the front of that field for years.
What makes it work here
Size first. At around 185 inches the CR-V is big enough to be the only car a household owns and small enough to stay in the friendlier garage brackets — the monthly gap between size classes in this city can rival a car payment, and the CR-V sits on the right side of it.
Then the hybrid math. Most efficiency advantages evaporate in city driving; this one grows. If your weeks are short trips, school runs and crawling arterials, a hybrid CR-V spends much of its time on electric power, and the fuel bill reflects it.
Then traction and assistance. All-wheel drive covers the unplowed morning and the wet ramp, and Honda Sensing is standard on every trim — adaptive cruise alone removes real strain from a slow crawl, and the multi-angle camera makes parallel parking a non-event.
Within the brand, the HR-V is the size down for households that never fill the cargo area, and the Pilot is where you go when a third row becomes non-negotiable. If the hybrid specifically is what you are weighing, we have written it up separately in our CR-V Hybrid guide.
Compare the whole segment on one block
Plaza Honda belongs to Plaza Auto Mall, family-owned on Nostrand Avenue: five new-vehicle brands, a certified pre-owned program behind each, and a multibrand used operation handling makes we do not sell new — over 1,000 vehicles in stock, everything within a seven-minute walk.
That layout turns a weekend of shopping into an afternoon. Drive the CR-V, then walk to the Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Tucson and the Kia Sportage Hybrid — the three cars almost every CR-V shopper here also drives. Acura of Brooklyn sits on the same block for something more premium.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 2027 CR-V redesigned?
No indication of it. The current generation launched for 2023 and has been receiving additions rather than a rewrite. Anticipate packaging and color adjustments for 2027, with the engines, transmissions and dimensions carrying over.
How much does the 2027 CR-V cost?
The 2027 CR-V starts at $31,520 for the LX FWD and $33,020 for the LX AWD. The EX is $33,550, the EX-L $35,800, the Sport Hybrid $36,030, the Sport-L Hybrid $39,125, the TrailSport Hybrid $39,200 and the Sport Touring Hybrid $42,950. Destination is $1,550.
Hybrid or turbo — which makes more sense in the city?
Hybrid, for most people driving inside the boroughs. It rates around 40 mpg combined against 30 for the 1.5-liter turbo, and the advantage is largest in exactly the stop-and-go conditions that dominate here. If your miles are mostly highway, the gap narrows and the turbo's lower entry price makes a stronger case.
Which CR-V trims are available as hybrids?
Sport, Sport-L, TrailSport and Sport Touring. The LX, EX and EX-L use the 1.5-liter turbo. Sport and Sport-L Hybrid offer front- or all-wheel drive; the TrailSport and Sport Touring Hybrid come with all-wheel drive.
Is all-wheel drive worth it here?
For most New York households, yes. It adds $1,500 and costs about 1 mpg combined on gas trims and 3 mpg on hybrids, and it earns that back the first morning a side street goes unplowed or a ramp is slick. If the car sleeps in a garage and rarely moves in weather, front-drive with good all-season tires is a fair call.
How much cargo room does the CR-V have?
Roughly 39 cubic feet behind the rear seats on turbo models and about 76 with them folded, with hybrids giving up a little to battery packaging. The usable part is the shape — a wide hatch, a low lift-over height and a sliding, reclining rear seat.
What does the TrailSport Hybrid actually add?
All-terrain tires, a rugged exterior treatment, orange interior accents and its own suspension tuning. It is rated 38/33/35 mpg, about two combined mpg below other all-wheel-drive hybrids. Useful if you leave pavement; as a pure city car the money goes further elsewhere in the range.
Can I claim a 2027 CR-V before it lands?
Yes. Give us the trim, powertrain, drivetrain and color and we will match you against the first arriving allocation — no deposit, no obligation. Worth doing early for hybrid trims, which are the fastest to leave once they arrive.
I live outside Brooklyn. Does that complicate anything?
Not really. Purchased vehicles deliver free within 25 miles, which reaches all five boroughs plus much of Nassau and southern Westchester. Service pickup and drop-off covers the whole NYC metro area, and our staff works across fifteen-plus languages.
What is Plaza Auto Mall?
The family-owned group Plaza Honda is part of, on Nostrand Avenue. Five new-vehicle franchises — Honda, Acura, Toyota, Kia and Hyundai — each with its own certified pre-owned program, all inside a seven-minute walk, with more than 1,000 vehicles in stock between them.
Do you stock used vehicles beyond those five brands?
Yes. Our multibrand used operation carries makes we do not sell new, so a used Rogue, Forester or Equinox can sit alongside a certified CR-V. The group used inventory shows everything currently available.
