2027 Honda HR-V: What's New, Trims and Prices
Published September 10, 2026 · Last updated October 19, 2026
HR-V Sport in Boost Blue Pearl: black 18-inch wheels, gloss black trim and a short, upright tail.
The HR-V solves a specific New York problem: you want a raised seating position and all-wheel drive, but you also want something that fits the spot you actually get rather than the spot you wish for. At around 179 inches it is shorter than most sedans on the block, and it still swallows a stroller, a bike with the front wheel off, and a Costco run on the same Saturday.
2027 pricing is official. Honda has published the 2027 HR-V order guide: three trims, each with front- or all-wheel drive, from $26,600 for the LX to $31,950 for the EX-L AWD, plus a $1,450 destination charge. EPA ratings carry over unchanged.
What's changing on the 2027 Honda HR-V?
Nothing structural. This generation arrived for 2023 on the Civic platform, with a wider track, a longer wheelbase and a real chassis instead of the Fit-derived one before it, and the 2027 HR-V carries over: the same 158-horsepower 2.0-liter four, the same CVT, the same LX, Sport and EX-L ladder and the same EPA ratings.
The meaningful upgrade already happened for 2026, when every trim gained a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus wireless phone charging. That content carries into 2027. There is persistent industry talk about a hybrid HR-V borrowing the Civic's system, but none has been announced for the US market.
So the practical comparison between a 2027 and a 2026 HR-V comes down to price and to what is physically on the lot, not to specification, which means you can shop both model years against each other on money alone.
| Area | 2026 HR-V | 2027 HR-V |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 2.0L four, 158 hp, CVT | Same |
| Trims | LX, Sport, EX-L, FWD or AWD | Same |
| EPA (FWD / AWD) | 26/32/28 · 25/30/27 | Same |
| Touchscreen | 9-inch, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on every trim | Same |
| Starting MSRP | Outgoing stock, check incentives | $26,600 (LX FWD) |
| Destination | — | $1,450 |
When is the 2027 Honda HR-V release date?
With pricing published, 2027 HR-Vs are reaching dealers now, and allocation builds through late 2026 into early 2027 in batches rather than one shipment.
The sequence rarely varies. LX and Sport come first and in the largest numbers, since that is where volume and lease programs point. EX-L follows, and an all-wheel-drive EX-L in a specific color is what people wait longest for here. Telling us the exact build before allocation is assigned costs nothing.
In the meantime the outgoing model year is often the better deal, because factory support concentrates on inventory already on the ground. Current lease programs reset monthly, and factory incentives show what is live right now.
Will the 2027 Honda HR-V cost more?
The 2027 HR-V starts at $26,600 for the LX with front-wheel drive, or $28,050 with the $1,450 destination charge. At New York City's 8.875% combined sales tax that comes to about $30,540 before registration and dealer fees. The range tops out at $31,950 for the EX-L AWD, or $33,400 with destination.
Two decisions matter far more than the model-year bump. The first is all-wheel drive, which adds exactly $1,500 on every trim and is the one option most New York households should think hard about, not for deep snow but for the first unplowed morning and a wet ramp onto the Belt. The second is the $2,050 jump from Sport to EX-L, which buys leather-trimmed seating, a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate, a power driver's seat and parking sensors. Neither changes how the car drives.
Your trade is the lever people underuse. Compact SUVs have held value firmly in this market, and a current appraisal often covers the step from LX to Sport by itself — we buy cars whether or not you buy one from us.
Every HR-V trim, compared
Three trims, each available with front- or all-wheel drive. MSRP excludes the $1,450 destination charge, taxes, title, dealer fees and New York registration.
| Trim | Drive | MPG city / hwy / comb. | Notable equipment | MSRP FWD / AWD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LX | FWD standard, AWD optional | 26 / 32 / 28 FWD 25 / 30 / 27 AWD |
9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, LED lights, Honda Sensing, 17-inch alloys | $26,600 / $28,100 |
| Sport | FWD standard, AWD optional | 26 / 32 / 28 FWD 25 / 30 / 27 AWD |
LX content plus black 18-inch wheels, heated front seats, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, two extra speakers | $28,400 / $29,900 |
| EX-L | FWD standard, AWD optional | 26 / 32 / 28 FWD 25 / 30 / 27 AWD |
Leather-trimmed seats, moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate, power driver's seat, eight-speaker audio, front and rear parking sensors, 18-inch machine-finished wheels | $30,450 / $31,950 |
2027 HR-V trims, EPA fuel economy and MSRP. With the $1,450 destination charge: LX $28,050 / $29,550, Sport $29,850 / $31,350, EX-L $31,900 / $33,400 (FWD / AWD). All-wheel drive adds $1,500 on any trim. EPA estimates are for comparison only.
One row is worth a second look. Fuel economy does not change as you climb the ladder — the LX and the EX-L return identical numbers on the same drivetrain, because the engine and transmission never change. Everything above LX is comfort and equipment. If your budget is tight and all-wheel drive is the priority, an LX AWD at $28,100 costs less than a Sport FWD at $28,400 and is the more useful car in February.
Engine, efficiency and what the numbers feel like here
A 2.0-liter four rated at 158 horsepower drives through a CVT, front wheels or all four. Nobody buys an HR-V for acceleration, and it does take its time merging with four people aboard — but the tuning suits the speeds this city runs at, where a smooth CVT beats a hunting automatic.
EPA ratings land at 26 city, 32 highway, 28 combined with front-wheel drive, and 25 / 30 / 27 with all-wheel drive. City figures around here typically sit at or just below the sticker, since cold starts and stop-and-go are harder than the EPA loop. If efficiency is your top priority, the CR-V Hybrid is the step up worth driving, and the Civic underneath it returns better numbers still if you can live lower to the ground.
Space, and where it comes from
Behind the rear seats there is roughly 24 cubic feet, opening to about 55 with them folded. What makes those numbers work is the shape: a wide hatch, a low lift-over height and a properly flat floor. Loading a folded stroller one-handed while holding a toddler is the test this car passes and several rivals do not.
What you give up compared with the previous HR-V is the Magic Seat — the flip-up rear cushion that let the old car carry a potted tree upright. Honda traded it for a better chassis and a quieter cabin when the platform changed. If that trick was the reason you bought your last one, that is worth knowing before you drive this one.
Measured against the HR-V it replaced
The pre-2023 HR-V is still everywhere in this city, so that comparison matters more than the year-to-year one. The old car used a 1.8-liter engine and a narrower body derived from the Fit; this one runs the 2.0-liter on the Civic's platform, and the difference shows up most on the highway, where the current car tracks straight and stays quiet instead of working hard. The interior went from functional to genuinely pleasant — better materials, a wider dash, adult-usable rear seats. Honda Sensing became standard rather than optional, and since 2026 every trim has a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless phone integration.
The trade-offs are real: the Magic Seat is gone, and the current car is heavier and slightly thirstier. Cross-shopping that earlier generation used? Those cars land in our certified pre-owned inventory.
The recognition, briefly
Recent HR-V model years have carried IIHS Top Safety Pick status, though those ratings attach to a specific model year and headlight configuration, so confirm it on the exact car you are considering. Cars.com and Kelley Blue Book have both placed the HR-V among their recommended picks in the subcompact SUV class.
Resale is the recognition that reaches your bank statement: residuals set lease payments, so a car that holds value leases for less before anyone starts negotiating.
What makes it work here
Size first. Under 180 inches means the HR-V fits the spaces that open mid-block, clears the tighter ramps under older buildings, and stays inside the smaller brackets garages price by — and the monthly difference between size classes is not trivial.
Then visibility. The seating position is high enough to see over a sedan ahead but low enough that garage entrances are never a concern, and the greenhouse is genuinely open for a modern car. With the multi-angle camera, parallel parking stops being a negotiation.
Then traction and assistance. All-wheel drive handles the unplowed morning and the wet ramp, and Honda Sensing is standard on every trim — adaptive cruise alone takes real strain out of a crawl across the Kosciuszko.
Within the brand, the CR-V is the size up when rear seat and cargo space start feeling tight, and the Pilot is where households go when a third row becomes non-negotiable.
Compare the whole segment on one block
Plaza Honda belongs to Plaza Auto Mall, family-owned on Nostrand Avenue: five new-vehicle brands, a certified pre-owned program behind each, and a multibrand used operation handling makes we do not sell new — over 1,000 vehicles in stock, everything within a seven-minute walk.
That layout turns a weekend of shopping into an afternoon. Drive the HR-V, then walk to the Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Kona and the Toyota Corolla Cross. Considering something smaller still? The Hyundai Venue and Toyota C-HR are steps away, and Acura of Brooklyn sits on the same block for something more premium.

Frequently asked questions
What is new on the 2027 HR-V compared with the 2026?
Very little beyond price. The 2027 HR-V carries over the 158-hp 2.0-liter engine, CVT, LX, Sport and EX-L trims, EPA ratings and the 9-inch touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto that arrived for 2026. Shop the two model years against each other on money and on what is physically in stock.
How much does the 2027 Honda HR-V cost?
The 2027 HR-V starts at $26,600 for the LX FWD, $28,400 for the Sport and $30,450 for the EX-L. All-wheel drive adds $1,500 on any trim, so the range tops out at $31,950 for the EX-L AWD. Add the $1,450 destination charge: the LX FWD comes to $28,050.
Is there a hybrid HR-V coming?
Nothing has been confirmed for the US. Industry reporting has repeatedly suggested Honda could adapt the Civic's hybrid system for the HR-V, but no announcement exists. If a hybrid is the requirement today, the CR-V Hybrid is the one to drive.
Is all-wheel drive worth it in the city?
For most households here, yes. It adds $1,500 and costs one combined mpg, and it earns that back the first morning a side street goes unplowed or a ramp is slick. If your car sleeps in a garage and you rarely drive in weather, front-drive with good all-season tires is a fair call.
How much cargo space does the HR-V have?
Roughly 24 cubic feet behind the rear seats and about 55 with them folded. More useful than the numbers is the shape: a wide hatch, a low lift-over and a genuinely flat floor, which is what makes one-handed loading possible.
Did the HR-V lose the Magic Seat?
Yes. The flip-up rear cushion did not survive the move to the Civic platform for the 2023 redesign. Honda traded it for a wider body, a quieter cabin and better highway manners. If that feature was the reason you bought your last HR-V, drive this one before deciding.
What mileage will an HR-V return in real city driving?
Rated at 26 city, 32 highway and 28 combined with front-wheel drive, and 25 / 30 / 27 with all-wheel drive. City figures here tend to match or fall just under the sticker, because cold starts and heavy stop-and-go are harder than the EPA cycle.
Which trim do most New York buyers choose?
Sport with all-wheel drive is the common landing spot, because it adds heated seats and better wheels without the EX-L premium. Worth knowing: an LX with all-wheel drive, at $28,100, costs less than a Sport with front-wheel drive at $28,400, and in February it is the more useful car.
Can I reserve a 2027 HR-V at Plaza Honda?
Yes. Give us the trim, drivetrain and color and we will match you against the next arriving allocation, with no deposit and no obligation. Worth doing early for all-wheel-drive EX-L builds, which are the slowest to appear in this market.
I live outside Brooklyn. Does that complicate anything?
Not really. Purchased vehicles deliver free within 25 miles, which reaches all five boroughs plus much of Nassau and southern Westchester. Service pickup and drop-off covers the whole NYC metro area, and our staff works across fifteen-plus languages.
What is Plaza Auto Mall?
The family-owned group Plaza Honda is part of, on Nostrand Avenue. Five new-vehicle franchises — Honda, Acura, Toyota, Kia and Hyundai — each with its own certified pre-owned program, all inside a seven-minute walk, with more than 1,000 vehicles in stock between them.
Do you stock used vehicles beyond those five brands?
Yes. Our multibrand used operation carries makes we do not sell new, so a used Rogue, Crosstrek or Trax can sit alongside a certified HR-V. The group used inventory shows everything currently available.
