The 2027 Honda Odyssey, Trim by Trim, for New York City Families
Published September 9, 2026 · Last updated September 9, 2026
If you have more than two kids, a stroller, a folded scooter and a week of groceries to move at once, the math stops working in a compact crossover. The Odyssey has quietly been the New York answer for years: a sliding door you can actually open in a stacked garage, a step-in height a four-year-old manages alone, and second-row seats that come out when a dresser has to come down four flights.
Where the 2027 information stands. Honda has not published 2027 Odyssey trims, equipment or pricing. Every figure below is the confirmed 2026 specification on a van restyled in 2025, and industry previews describe 2027 as a carryover. We update this page the day the order guide lands.
What's changing on the 2027 Honda Odyssey?
By every credible account, very little — and that is the point. Honda gave the Odyssey a full mid-cycle restyle for 2025, and automakers do not follow that twelve months later. Expect the 3.5-liter V6, the 10-speed automatic and front-wheel drive to carry over untouched, with the EX-L, Sport-L, Touring and Elite ladder intact.
Two smaller things are worth watching. Industry chatter points to package and color shuffling rather than new content, and the next full generation is generally discussed as a later-decade project. Neither is confirmed for 2027, and nothing about electrification has been announced.
When is the 2027 Honda Odyssey release date?
Release timing at a glance
- Announced: not yet — no 2027 trims or pricing as of early September 2026.
- Expected arrival: late 2026 into early 2027, in line with a normal model-year changeover.
- Order of arrival: EX-L and Sport-L fill allocation first; Touring and Elite arrive in smaller numbers.
- Hardest to find: Elite, consistently, during the first months of a model year in the New York metro.
- What to do now: tell us the trim and color you want and we will flag the first matching allocation.
There is a reason to look hard at the 2026 van meanwhile: factory support on an outgoing model year often beats what launches next. Our lease specials refresh monthly and the manufacturer incentives page shows what is live today.
Will the 2027 Honda Odyssey cost more?
Almost certainly, though not by much. Honda has moved Odyssey pricing in small annual steps rather than jumps, and carryover years across the industry typically add one to two percent. That would put a 2027 EX-L close to $43,500 before destination against the 2026 van's roughly $43,000. Honda has confirmed nothing, so anyone quoting an exact 2027 figure today is estimating.
The number that actually moves your payment is trim discipline. EX-L to Elite is about ten thousand dollars, and much of that spread buys rear entertainment and a built-in vacuum. If those will not earn their keep in your household, EX-L has always been the value play in this lineup.
After that it is your trade. Minivans have held value unusually well in the metro area, and an early appraisal often covers the step from EX-L to Sport-L by itself.
Every Odyssey trim, compared
Four trims, with the 2026 pricing that carries into 2027 unless Honda says otherwise. Pricing excludes destination, taxes, title, dealer fees and New York registration.
| Trim | Seating | Notable equipment | Best for a NYC family who… | Base MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EX-L | 8 | Leather-trimmed seats, power sliding doors, power tailgate, heated front seats, Magic Slide second row, tri-zone climate, Honda Sensing | Wants the sliding doors and the space without paying for screens the kids ignore by year two | 2026 figure: approx. $43,000 |
| Sport-L | 8 | EX-L content plus darkened exterior trim, black wheels, unique badging | Likes the blacked-out look and wants EX-L equipment underneath it | 2026 figure: approx. $45,500 |
| Touring | 8 | Rear entertainment, CabinWatch and CabinTalk, built-in vacuum, wireless charging, upgraded audio, navigation, roof rails | Runs to the Poconos, the Jersey Shore or upstate and wants the back seat handled | 2026 figure: approx. $49,000 |
| Elite | 7 | Touring content plus ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain's chairs, premium audio, panoramic entertainment screen, parking sensors | Wants the loaded van and values captain's chairs for walk-through third-row access | 2026 figure: approx. $52,500 |
Odyssey trims, fuel economy and base MSRP. All figures are 2026 specifications; Honda has not published 2027 pricing.
One line deserves a second read: Elite is the only trim that seats seven rather than eight. If eight seatbelts matter to your family, Touring is the highest trim that still gives you all of them — which reorders the usual assumption that the top trim is the family trim.
Powertrain, fuel economy and a New York routine
Every trim shares one drivetrain: a 3.5-liter V6 rated around 280 horsepower with a 10-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. EPA figures for recent model years land near 19 mpg city, 28 highway and 22 combined. In real city use — short trips, cold starts, stop-and-go on the Belt or the BQE — plan on the city number or slightly under it.
There is no hybrid and no all-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive with proper winter tires handles a New York winter fine; if you regularly drive north for skiing, that is the case for a Pilot instead, and the Toyota Sienna is the only minivan offering it.
Inside: screens, seats and the parent features
The restyle put a larger, faster touchscreen high on the dash with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on most of the lineup. Above EX-L, the equipment shifts toward keeping the back two rows occupied: the rear entertainment screen, CabinWatch so you can see the third row without turning around, and CabinTalk so you can be heard over it.
Leather-trimmed seating from EX-L up matters more here than the spec sheet suggests, because a New York family car doubles as a waiting room and wipes down in a way cloth does not. The built-in vacuum on Touring and Elite is the feature nobody shops for and everybody uses after Rockaway.
How this Odyssey compares with the one before the restyle
If you are stepping out of a 2021–2024 van, the gaps come from the 2025 restyle rather than from anything new for 2027. The nose went squarer and more upright with a blacked-out grille treatment that reads closer to a Pilot. The 8-inch center screen gave way to a larger, faster display. The entry-level EX was dropped so the ladder starts at EX-L, with Sport-L slotted between EX-L and Touring. CabinWatch and CabinTalk moved higher into the lineup, and the rear entertainment screen got brighter and sharper.
What did not change: the V6, the transmission and the front-wheel drive. Cross-shopping the previous generation used? Our certified pre-owned inventory is where those vans land.
What the awards actually say
Cars.com has repeatedly recognized the Odyssey in its minivan and family-vehicle rankings, and Kelley Blue Book has named it among its Best Buy picks in the minivan segment. The IIHS has awarded recent Odyssey model years Top Safety Pick status, though ratings are assigned by model year and by specific trim and headlight combination, so confirm the rating on the exact van you are considering.
Honda more broadly places well on the Cars.com American-Made Index and in third-party resale-value studies. Resale is the award that shows up on your statement rather than your wall: residuals set lease payments, so a van that holds value leases cheaper before anyone negotiates.
Why the Odyssey works on New York streets
Start with the doors. In a stacked garage or a tight spot on a residential block, a swing door either dings the car beside you or will not open far enough for a child seat. Power sliders solve that permanently, and open from the key fob when both hands are full.
Then the floor height. Kids climb in themselves and grandparents get in without a grab handle and a plan — the most underrated Odyssey advantage for the multi-generational households common across Queens, Brooklyn and northern Staten Island. The van is long, but the turning circle and outward visibility are friendlier than most three-row SUVs, and the multi-angle camera takes the guesswork out of parallel parking.
Then the flexibility. Three rows that all fit adults handle a school run, a shared ride to LaGuardia or JFK, or a weekend with cousins. Second-row seats that remove entirely turn the van into a cargo hauler for a move, a flat-pack pickup in Long Island City or a Home Depot run in Bay Ridge. Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, and adaptive cruise alone removes a lot of daily fatigue in metro stop-and-go.
Cross-shop the segment without moving your car
Plaza Honda is part of Plaza Auto Mall, family-owned on Nostrand Avenue: five new-vehicle brands, a certified pre-owned program for each, and a multibrand used operation covering makes we do not sell new — over 1,000 vehicles in stock, all within a seven-minute walk.
That geography does the work of a weekend: drive an Odyssey, then walk to the Toyota Sienna and the Kia Carnival the same afternoon. Prefer three rows in SUV form? The Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Grand Highlander and Kia Telluride are a short walk apart, and Acura of Brooklyn sits on the same block for anything more premium.

Frequently asked questions
Has Honda announced 2027 Odyssey pricing?
Not yet. As of early September 2026 Honda has published no 2027 trims or pricing. The 2026 EX-L opens near $43,000 before destination, and carryover years typically add one to two percent.
Is the 2027 Honda Odyssey a redesign or a carryover?
A carryover, by every credible account. Honda restyled the Odyssey for 2025 with new front-end styling, a larger touchscreen and a reshuffled trim ladder. Expect packaging and color changes for 2027 rather than sheet metal or powertrain work.
Does the 2027 Odyssey come with all-wheel drive?
No. The Odyssey is front-wheel drive across every trim, and among minivans only the Toyota Sienna offers all-wheel drive. If AWD is a requirement, the Honda alternatives are the Pilot and the Passport. Front-wheel drive with proper winter tires handles New York conditions well for most families.
Is there a hybrid Odyssey for 2027?
No. The Odyssey uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 10-speed automatic, and Honda has announced nothing about electrifying it. If a hybrid van is the requirement today, the Toyota Sienna and Kia Carnival Hybrid are the two to look at, and we sell both a short walk away.
What is the difference between Touring and Elite?
Elite adds ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain's chairs, upgraded premium audio and additional convenience equipment, and seats seven rather than eight because of those chairs. Touring already includes rear entertainment, the built-in vacuum and wireless charging, and keeps eight seatbelts.
What fuel economy should I expect in the five boroughs?
EPA ratings for recent Odyssey model years land near 19 mpg city, 28 highway and 22 combined. Real city driving here — short trips, cold starts, heavy stop-and-go — typically sits at or slightly below the city figure, while runs to Long Island or upstate get close to the highway number.
How many child seats fit across the second row?
The second row has three positions, and the sliding middle-seat arrangement lets you shift seats laterally for access or to place a child seat closer to you. Whether three fit side by side depends on the seats you own, so bring them — we will install them in the van before you commit.
Can I reserve a 2027 Odyssey at Plaza Honda before it arrives?
Yes. Tell us the trim and color you want and we will match you to the first arriving allocation, no deposit and no obligation. Worth doing early on the Elite, which is consistently the hardest trim to find in the metro during the first months of a model year.
I am not in Brooklyn. How do delivery and service work?
We deliver purchased vehicles free within 25 miles, covering all five boroughs and much of Nassau and southern Westchester. Service pickup and drop-off runs across the whole NYC metro area, and our team works in fifteen-plus languages.
What is Plaza Auto Mall, and why does it matter to a minivan shopper?
The family-owned group Plaza Honda belongs to, on Nostrand Avenue. Five new-vehicle franchises — Honda, Acura, Toyota, Kia and Hyundai — each with a certified pre-owned program, sit within a seven-minute walk, with over 1,000 vehicles in stock. You can drive a minivan and a three-row SUV from different brands the same afternoon without moving your car.
Do you sell used cars from brands other than the five you represent?
Yes. Our multibrand used operation covers makes we do not sell new, so a used Sienna, Carnival or Pacifica sits beside a certified Odyssey. Browse the full group used inventory to see what is in stock today.
